Micro Needling is one of the world’s most advanced vertical skin needling technologies. Resulting in a more effective, minimally invasive and affordable treatment option that works to tighten, lift, rejuvenate and resurface the skin.
What is Micro Needling?
It’s multiple needles with an automatic vibrating function. The needles gently pierce the skin, stimulating natural collagen reproduction whilst allowing fine channels to be created in the skin. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing for treatment delivery deep into the skin to feed underlying cells found in the dermis and basal layer. This increased absorption of active ingredients into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing results. Micro needling is safer and more effective in piercing the skin than traditional skin needling rollers, due to its unique vertical needling technology. It has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation. Active ingredients are directly supplied to the deeper layers of the skin. The multi-speed and adjustable needle depths allows the needles to pierce the skin’s layers at 90 degrees resulting in increased effectiveness of treatments. Furthermore it reduces pain and patient downtime. Micr needling can effectively treat hard-to-reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose, and lips). Because of the vertical delivery, the needles can easily penetrate scar tissue. Micro Needling promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.
Helps with:
• Skin tightening • Natural collagen induction • Lifting & rejuvenation • Heals acne scars & wound healing • Improves appearance of skin cancer scars • Improves wrinkles and fine lines • Open pore minimisation • Improves stretch marks • Decreases Pigmentation • Aids penetration of solutions
Does it hurt?
Unlike other methods of needling, the oscillating motor featured with pen technology dissipates nerve receptors allowing for painless and comfortable treatment. Over 1300 rejuvenating channels are created per second allowing for rapid and targeted results. For more intensive needling procedures, an anaesthetic cream will be applied 15 minutes prior to treatment. This reduces any sensitivity or discomfort; all that is felt is a mild vibrating sensation with light pressure. I personaly would describe the sensation to an abrasive micro-derbrasion treatment with a vibrating tip, its slightly more uncomfortable on bony areas of the face but its honestly not painful (it doesn’t actually feel like needles). After the treatment, the skin will feel warm and slightly tight, similarly to that of light sunburn. This feeling will progressively reduce over a 2 day time period.
Are there any side effects?
Post-treatment, you will experience mild to moderate redness similar to that of a mild to light sunburn, swelling and sensitivity that can last between twelve to forty-eight hours.  After a few days, the area will start to feel dry and tight, but this is a normal occurrence as your skin begins to heal and produce new collagen. If we treat an area aggressively to achieve maximum results, you may experience redness and peeling for up to 1 week.
When will I start to see improvement?
Improvement in skin tone is usually seen in the first week and texture will start to show improvement within six to eight weeks and will continue to improve drastically in the following months, depending on what has been treated. After a series of procedures, a significant improvement will be noticeable, including smoother skin, improved skin tone, reduction of scars and pitting, improved texture of stretch marks, and a reduction in fine lines. We recommend anywhere between three to eight treatments as a general guideline, however, certain deeper skin problems may require additional sessions. Needling sessions are performed at 4-6 weekly intervals to deliver cumulative and effective results. As needling triggers the skin’s natural healing mechanisms, visible improvement will appear around 2-4 weeks post-procedure. The repair cascade may continue for up to 24 months after just 1 treatment. Multiple sessions provide progressive stimulation to further enhance results and longevity.

*Left is the old method of skin needling which left large wide tears in the skin.
*Right is our method which provides vertical pin point injuries in the skin causing a quick healing response and fast results.

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. This light is used to target specific cells in your body, to either denature them or stimulate them depending on the desired outcome from the IPL treatment.

Does IPL Hurt?

If performed correctly IPL should be a fairly painless experience. Some clients describe the feeling like a warm rubber band snapping against the skin. Most people don’t feel anything but the warmth. Any discomfort you may experience is over with extremely quickly as the light pulse is very fast.

Is it Laser or IPL? Isn’t Laser stronger?

To explain the difference between IPL & Laser, simply think of the colours in a rainbow. A rainbow is the result of sunlight refracting or bending through water droplets in the sky, creating or displaying a spectrum of colours. Each of these colours, starting at violet, & going through to blue, green, yellow, orange & red, are all just different wavelengths of visible light.

Simply put, lasers are one colour, & IPL is all of them. Most lasers used in the cosmetic industry are single wavelength lasers, so they only reach one specific depth in the skin. IPL however, can be specifically tailored to each client’s needs by filtering out certain colours/wavelengths of light starting at 400nm up to 1200nm, and /or any combination of colours in between. This means that IPL has the versatility to enable it to be used to treat a wide variety of skin concerns.

How many treatments will I need?

Several factors will have an impact on how many treatment sessions you may need, including diet, lifestyle, medications, hormones, tolerance to light, & even treatment consistency. Somewhere between 4-10 is a good guide to work to.

How often will I need treatment?

Depending on the treatment, treatments should be spaced from 4 weeks between your first few appointments, gradually increasing to 8 weeks apart. Yearly to bi-yearly top up treatments are recommended.

At Dollhouse we have many IPL Hair removal options for women as well as many Skin Treatments.

Available Treatments:

  • Hair Removal: Studies have shown that both IPL & Laser hair removal will permanently reduce the hair growth by at least 80% after 8 – 12 treatments. It is also important to know that results can vary depending on the areas being treated and can be influenced by sex, age and hormones.
  • Capillaries/Spider Veins: Reduce redness caused by enlarged and inflamed blood vessels and rosacea. When treating thread veins (or other vascular conditions), the light is absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin in the blood within the vein, causing the blood to coagulate and the thread vein to break up into particles that can be filtered away naturally through the lymphatic system in your body.
  • Pigmentation: When treating unwanted areas of pigmentation, targeted areas momentarily absorb the light and become hot, but not for long enough to burn. This heat breaks down the pigmentation into tiny particles which then either rise to the skin’s surface as scabs, which are exfoliated away naturally within 1-2 weeks, or the particles are filtered away through the lymphatic system in your body.
  • Acne treatment: using IPL is a great alternative to harsh medications. IPL acne treatment is all about fighting the bacteria in these deeper layers that cause the inflammation and the size of the sebaceous gland.
An overactive sebaceous gland is almost always the cause of acne, resulting in excessive oil combined with bacteria in the skin. The Sebaceous gland is right next to the hair follicle which contains pigment. The IPL light pulses target this pigment, heating up the hair follicle and the sebaceous glands, killing any acne-causing bacteria.
  • Skin Rejuvenation: This is our famous Non-Surgical Facelift!
  • Constant exposure to the sun can damage the skin and cause common skin imperfections such as redness, freckles, age spots and uneven skin texture. And to help you combat this skin damage, IPL  works to rejuvenate your skin and visibly reduce skin imperfections. Delivering intense pulsed light to the skin and is absorbed by unwanted skin pigmentations, causing the pigment to shatter and seal the surrounding small blood vessels. The heat energy of the laser stimulates new collagen production, firms the skin and reduces skin pore size, resulting in a more perfect looking skin.

We offer a variety of peels to revitalise and rejuvenate the skin with minimal down time, improving the texture of the skin by removing damaged outer layers to reveal fresh, younger looking skin.
The benefits of skin peels:
• Improve the vitality and smoothness of the complexion • Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles • Assist with acne and reduce congestion and blocked pores • Promote hydration resulting in firmer, smoother skin • Help increase cellular turnover • Improve the texture of the skin and stimulate collagen renewal • Improve superficial scarring and irregular pigmentation • Benefit the face, neck, hands and décolletage. We have a range of peels available for various skin types. Prior to treatment, our qualified skin therapist will need to conduct an evaluation of your skin to choose the appropriate treatment.

What is Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel?

Cosmelan is the world’s safest and most effective treatment for a more even skin tone. This unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment is designed to reduce areas of skin discolouration and hyperpigmentation. It works by decreasing the skin’s melanin production by inhibiting the release of tyrosinase enzyme.

Cosmelan is compatible with all skin types. This non-invasive, easy and effective procedure can erase blemishes caused by sun-damage (freckles), ageing, acne scarring and hormonal pigmentation (melasma). In addition, the treatment balances the skin’s oil production to improve acne. The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment designed to reduce areas of skin discolouration and hyperpigmentation. It can improve the appearance of freckles, pregnancy melasma, hyperpigmentation, chloasma from UV damage, birthmarks and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne or scars. There’s no harsh hydroquinone and is suitable for all skin types and ages.

How does it work?

The Cosmelan peel decreases the skin’s natural melanin production (which causes hyperpigmentation) by inhibiting an enzyme deep within the skin. It also improves cell turnover which ‘pushes’ pigment cells to the surface where they are sloughed away. Rather than harsh hydroquinone which is often used for melanin lightening, Cosmelan uses azelaic acid, which kills bacteria on the surface and boosts new skin production, as well as Kolic acid, to inhibit melanin production.

Cosmelan Results

Cosmelan aims to achieve a 95% improvement in pigmentation. This treatment is an incredible addition to our clinic and we look forward to achieving life changing results for our clients. However, it is a 6-12 month long commitment that you must be willing to dedicate yourself to. Within a week, clients will notice skin blemishes beginning to fade, and a brighter complexion breaking through. After a couple of weeks, the skin will take on a shiny, healthy glow. These results will continue to improve over the 4th-5th week, when the full benefits of Cosmelan can be seen.

The skin will be delicate and sensitive for the first 1-2 weeks after the treatment; prolonged sun exposure should be avoided and a full spectrum sunscreen worn at all times. Clients who commit to a daily routine will see the results from Cosmelan last for many years to come.

In the clinic, we will apply the peel mask, which you then leave the clinic with the mask on on for the next 10-12 hours. You need only one peel treatment followed by a two week check-up appointment to review progress and results.

Does Cosmelan hurt?

The peeling mask itself once applied doesn’t feel like anything other than a face mask. Once removed there’s a slight warmth and tightening of the skin. As the peeling process begins your skin can feel sensitive, you might also notice some slight stinging and itchiness. The provided aftercare products will make things more comfortable.

What are the after-effects:

In the first 3-5 days, you will notice significant skin peeling as the peel speeds up the cell turnover process. By day 6 your skin will have calmed down and you’ll see the first improvements in hyperpigmentation. You MUST protect your skin from sun exposure with a full spectrum sunblock to prevent pigmentation return.

You should expect to use the Cosmelan 2 maintenance cream for 6-12 months after the initial peel treatment to ensure the pigmentation doesn’t return.

Our initial package cost includes your initial treatment, 1 check-up appointment and 1 aftercare product pack.

Our award-winning laser alternative treatment for common skin irregularities such as broken capillaries, cherry angiomas, keratosis, skin tags, hyper-pigmentation, milia, sebaceous hyperplasia, and acne.

Broken capillaries are small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. They can develop anywhere on the body but are commonly seen on the face around the nose, cheeks, chin, and chest. They can be caused by environmental damage such as sun or cold exposure and may increase as we age.

Cherry Angiomas are small clusters of capillaries at the surface of the skin that form a small round dome, which is often flat topped. The colour typically ranges from bright red to purple. When they first begin to appear, they are almost flat and appear as small red dots. These dots can grow over time up to a centimetre or more in some cases. Larger cherry angiomas may be thick and raised. These are found in various areas of the face and body and are typically caused by ageing, pregnancy, genetics, and excessive sun exposure.

Sebaceous Hyperplasia is a disorder of the oil glands and is a common, benign condition most commonly found in adults of middle age or older. These lesions can be single or multiple and appear as a yellow, soft, small papule on the face. They are round and the oil surrounds the pore giving it a “donut-like” appearance. Typically these occur on the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Occasionally, sebaceous hyperplasia appear on the chest or other parts of the body as well.

A seborrheic keratosis is a non-cancerous (benign) skin tumor that originates from cells in the outer layer of the epidermis, also known as keratinocytes. Like liver spots, seborrheic keratoses are seen more often as people age. These lesions can be slightly elevated and have a waxy or scaly appearance like a scab from a wound. They can appear round or oval, ranging from very small to more than one inch in size. These growths can appear in various colours, ranging from light tan to black, and have been often described as having a “pasted on” appearance. Seborrheic keratoses are commonly found on the face, chest, shoulders, and back. Although typically painless, they can become irritated from clothing or jewellery that causes friction.

A skin tag is a small benign tumor that primarily forms in areas where the skin creases, such as the neck, armpit, and groin. Sometimes they may also appear on the eyelids or other areas of the face. These are harmless and typically painless, and do not grow or change over time. Skin tags can be large, sometimes up to a half inch long, but are most commonly about the size of a grain of rice. The surface can range from smooth to rough. They can become irritated by shaving, clothing, or jewellery.

Skin Imperfection Removal starts at $79 for a 30 minute treatment, and can be added on to any other treatment, or booked as a stand alone treatment.

*Suspicious moles or sunspots will require doctor’s approval prior to treatment to ensure patient safety.

How many treatments do I need & when will I see improvement?

To remove the risk of over-treatment, some lesions may require a second treatment, 2-3 weeks after the initial session. Most lesions however only require one session to deliver long lasting treatment and removal. Results may be seen one to two weeks after treatment.

LED Light Therapy is your answer to radiating skin.

The non-invasive treatment works at a cellular level to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve uneven skin tone, target active acne and illuminate the skin. The penetrating LED lights target deep into cells heightening their internal functions stimulating dermal blood flow, and creates faster healing so your skin always looks rejuvenated.

These targeted wavelengths of light are delivered into the dermis in a specific layer of the skin where the source of inflammation resides.

Typical treatments are fast and effective lasting between 10-20mins. Our Led therapy machine is of medical grade and TGA approved. With uniquely coloured LED lights available (yellow, red, blue and green your treatment can be tailored to suit your individual skin goals.

Different wavelengths of light perform different functions.

For example, blue light 415nm is used to target oil glands since it is clinically proven to have an antimicrobial effect. In particular, it is known to kill the bacteria that causes acne breakouts (also known as Propionibacterium acnes or P acnes). It also helps condition the skin and makes it look younger. It is well-tolerated by all Fitzpatrick skin types in varying doses and exposure.

Red light therapy (in particular the clinically proven 633nm wavelength) is used to stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis. Known for its anti-inflammatory capabilities, red light is readily absorbed by the chromophores of the cell’s mitochondria.

Red light therapy is useful in promoting the body’s natural healing processes and helping to reduce inflammation. It helps significantly improve cell metabolism, allowing skin cells to repair and regenerate at a much higher rate than normal. Photon energy stimulates the skin’s fibroblasts to increase production of collagen and elastin, helping fill wrinkles and reduce sagging. In addition, it boosts supply of oxygen and nutrients to skin cells, enabling natural antioxidants to fight off free radicals and reduce inflammation.

It is also helpful in getting rid of acne scars and has been proven to be beneficial in cases where acne is caused by a chronic skin condition.  830nm near infrared light on the other hand offers the deepest penetration into tissue. It reaches deep below the skin into the tissue, bone, joints, and organs, thus allowing for effective treatment of deep injuries and even stimulates brain health. It also promotes collagen and elastin synthesis and is known for its anti-ageing and wound healing effects. Thus, it is routinely used as a post-procedure adjunct to other therapies.
